Bassetlaw Food Bank AGM Update

Posted by Marion Prest

2pm - Sun 22 Jun

Food Bank

We had a very good first AGM on Wednesday June 18th.The Officers for the Charity are:

Chair: Jean Coulson, Vice-chair: David Bean, Treasurer: Stephen Saddington and Secretary: Morag Turner.

Thank you to all who attended. 36 attended, with 31 seeking membership. We also thanked the Chair and Vice-chair of the Council for coming.

We are hoping to have the Retford premises up and running during July. We have information for anyone wishing to support BFB on a regular basis by standing order and we have Gift Aid in place.

Since April 1st 2013, we have distributed 650 emergency food parcels across Bassetlaw (at a possible cost of £25 per parcel, this would amount to approximately £16,200). During this time we have helped to feed 600 children and 2000 adults.

This, as you can see, will have made an amazing difference to those in need.

Most needed at the moment are: UHT milk; sugar; cereal; tins of potatoes, meat, baked beans and sweetcorn.

Thank you again for all of your support and God bless, Morag

Food Bank Update

9am - Mon 12 May

Food Bank

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the amount of food that you are donating every week now and for the cash that some of you are donating too. We use the cash to buy basic items that we need, when we go shopping for our donation.

If you want to support Bassetlaw Food bank with a regular standing order, I can let you have our Bank sort code and account number.

We need volunteers for the Foodbank on Lowtown Street, on

  • Tuesdays 10 – 2
  • Wednesdays 12 – 2
  • Thursdays 10 – 12
  • Fridays 12 – 2

Please see Morag if you are interested.

We also regularly need: UHT milk; tinned meat, fruit, vegetables, rice pudding; sugar; cereal; shampoo; shower gel or soap; and we are now running out of rice (long-grained or basmati).

We are now working in partnership with Sainsbury’s. Their PR Ambassador has arranged a monthly schedule for BFB to have a food collection. We will be there on:

  • Wednesday May 14th 10am – 4pm
  • Thursday June 26th 10am – 4pm
  • Friday July 25th 10am – 4pm
  • Wednesday August 27th 12pm – 6pm
  • Thursday September 25th 12pm – 6pm
  • Friday October 24th 12pm – 4pm
  • Wednesday December 3rd
  • Thursday December 18th

We are extremely grateful to Sainsbury’s for this regular support.
