The history of the Church is the mirroring to the world in each generation a Father God – a parent-like God – revealing Himself in a perfect Son, who having done everything necessary to release us into a God-filled abundant life, returned to the Father and poured out His Spirit to empower his body on earth – the Church. In every generation God has touched lives with his powerful grace and love and now it is our turn.

Poplars is not a building, it is a body of people. We are joined by this common grace and love which we have found in Jesus Christ. His powerful demonstration of God in His life, (“if you have seen me you have seen the Father”) His death on the cross, and His resurrection have brought us to be people of His way. We meet together because we want to meet – and why wouldn’t we want to when there is so much to share of His goodness and so much to explore on this journey of faith.

Our meetings are lively, active and open. We worship (and are blessed to have a great number of gifted leaders in this respect), pray and listen to what God wants to teach us. We spend time together. We do nothing that hasn’t been a mark of Church life since Jesus inaugurated it. We also break bread together, we baptise those who want to be followers of Jesus, spend time studying the Bible and looking at how we might understand more deeply the great love and grace given to us.About Us 1We are not a meeting driven church, but rather spend time together so that we can be more fruitful in our community – in family, at work and at play.

Throughout the 60’s and 70’s, the moving of the Holy Spirit brought into being thousands of new churches that have completely changed the Christian landscape. Like many such churches Poplars has grown, matured and developed and now makes a significant contribution to the work and witness of the Christian community in Worksop and district and overseas. The work is not finished and our vision is growing and developing. The history of Poplars Church is, above all else, a story of God’s faithfulness. Poplars Church has been a registered charity since 1979.

Faith and belief, for us, is a journey of discovery, a dialogue with the living God, and we invite you to talk with us, to explore God and discover Him together. In this way doctrines tend to unite rather than divide.

Poplars meets together every Sunday at 10.30am at The Golden Ball – home to the work of Poplars Church. The church’s working base is our office in Worksop town centre.

On Sunday we sang a new song during our worship time, a song called Cast My Cares by the amazing Tim Timmons. (If you don’t know his music and story I would highly recommend checking them out!)   In the week I came across Psalm 55:22, which says “Cast your cares on the Lord and He […]

Morning All, Monday 16th January, 2017 How I love the “tap tap” of God! He aims and puts two shots of his love into the target almost without drawing breath. The story of my life since April of last year has been “tap tap”…”Tap tap.” In April, twice I had people speak to me of […]
